Persimmon Ginger & Honey Bourbon Hot Toddy

It's flu season. And sniffling through your days is kind of a thing right now. We've managed to escape the worst of the epidemic but for those of you who haven't, I'm going to make your day 1,000 times better.

This steaming cup of booze is just what the doctor ordered.

Hot toddies are a tradition I'm pretty sure can't be improved upon. A little tea, a few medicinals like ginger or mint, a touch of sweet, and a generous helping of your favorite spirit. Mine's bourbon but I don't really discriminate.

When I'm sick, there's something about a steaming bowl of anything that revives me. Coupled with bourbon it makes me feel like a day parked on my couch is not the worst thing that's ever happened.

Hot toddy recipes are incredibly forgiving. Steep the tea with honey and ginger for a few minutes. Then add booze and lemon juice.

AHHHH.... Can you smell that? I can. And it's making me want to live again.

Be generous with the bourbon. It's not gonna kill you. The flu might, but not the bourbon.

Deathbed humor. It's kind of my thing.

Here's to feeling better soon, friends. Take care of yourself and this body you call home.

It's the only one you got.
