Strawberry Blanc Slushies

I have been wanting to do this for forever. FOR-EVER. But life kept getting in the way. And then I saw this beautiful bottle of blanc in the liquor store and I knew it was time.

Time to throw myself a damn party.

The kids are headed back to school. And that means I'm overdue for a little TLC. I don't have the money to go to the spa all day or the time to spend hours soaking in the tub. But I can sit for a few minutes and drink a damn slushie. And I'm gonna enjoy every second of it. Whose with me?

This recipe begins with a fantastic sparkling white wine. One that feels like an old friend. It's a special edition bottle of Blanc from Francis Ford Coppola's winery. He named it after his daughter Sofia and it's obviously amazing. Just look at it. I also have special feelings about Francis Ford Coppola's wine. Mostly because I stayed in his resort in Belize and drank a bottle the first night of my honeymoon.

Yep. All the feels.

These slushies are pretty basic, but that doesn't mean they aren't brilliant. You just need some fruit, a little sugar, and some lemon juice. And of course the wine. You can't forget the wine. That's kind of the whole point of this, people.

Next you get to pour the wine into a cookie sheet with a deep lip and freeze it. What?! I know. That's it. And now you're thinking exactly what I thought. Why the hell didn't I make these ages ago?

While that wine is stiffening up in the freezer, you can make the strawberry syrup. It's just like making simple syrup for cocktails except you put strawberries in it.

Once the Blanc has been holding its own in the freezer for about four hours, Take it out, scoop it into a blender and add the strawberry simple syrup.

Blend. Garnish. Admire.

In honor of back to school, I threw myself a party for one. And these strawberry blanc slushies made it spectacular. In honor of yourself, whip some up and celebrate the sweetness until next time, friends.
